Young and drinking?

A little information can make the first step feel easier.

New to A.A. · Vadodara

You do not have to wait for things to get worse before asking for support.

Your experience matters.

Drinking can become a problem at any age. You may be comparing yourself with friends or wondering whether your experience is serious enough to talk about. If alcohol is getting in the way of the life you want, you can ask for help now.

Not sure where you fit?

Start by listening to other people’s experiences. A meeting can help you explore whether A.A. feels useful to you.

You can ask questions.

Call the group before your first visit. Ask what the meeting is like and how to get there.

A first visit, at your own pace.

You do not need to tell your whole story. Let someone know it is your first meeting, ask any practical questions, and listen. Respect other people’s privacy as you would want yours respected.

If you are under 18, a trusted adult or healthcare professional can also help you find appropriate support and plan a safe visit.

Hear from other young people.

The official A.A. pamphlet Young People and A.A. (PDF) shares young members’ experiences. You can read it in your own time.
